PESHAWAR: The funeral prayers for two policemen who were martyred in the overnight night attack in Michni Gate were offered Tuesday morning.

Two policemen were martyred and an officer was injured in an attack on a patrolling party in Michni Gate late Monday night. Constables Ajmal and Siraj were martyred while Assistant Sub-Inspector Mazhar was wounded in the attack. The wounded officer was taken to the hospital where he was being treated.

The fallen cops were laid at ancestral graveyards after their funeral prayers. Senior Superintendent of Police, Operations, Kashif Aftab Abbasi and a few other SPs along with junior policemen attended the funeral prayers. The SSP operations visited the houses of the martyred cops to offer condolences.

The provincial government, while taking notice of the attack on policemen in Michni Gate, directed the officials to submit a report of the incident and take measures to protect cops from such attacks.

The Police have been under attack innumerable times in Peshawar and many other districts of the province over the last over two years. A superintendent for police Ijaz Khan was martyred in a recent such attack in Mardan.
