LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has sent a summary to the chief minister for the formation of the Cabinet’s Standing Committee on Law and Order.
According to the documents, the minister for Cooperatives, Environmental Protection and Parliamentary Affairs will be the chairman of the committee while the provincial minister of Interior and Jails will be its co-chairman and the minister of Transport will be its member.
It is first time in ToRs of Standing Committee of Cabinet for Law and Order that to delegate power to price control magistrates under Section 14A of CRPC 1898, approval of trial after submission of challans in courts under Section 196 of CRPC 1898 and deterioration of law and order under 5MPO and approval of authority to restrict movement of any person or individual to any area will rest with the Standing Committee of Cabinet for law and order.
According to summary, monitoring and reviewing law and order situation, ensuring protective measures on threat alerts sent by secret agencies, supply of funds from any block allocation of Interior Department in case of sudden creation of law and order and to deal with it, approval of forming joint investigation teams under Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, on boarding all stakeholders regarding security arrangements on important events, approval of payments from block allocation of Interior Department for running advertisements on TV and print media in connection with public peace, prevention of incidents of terrorism in province and calling out of army, Rangers and helicopters from federal government are included in it.
