Moon-sighting committees meet in Peshawar today

PESHAWAR: The official and private moon-sighting committees at central and regional levels will hold their meetings today (Monday) to announce the commencement of the holy month of Ramazan.

The central official committee will meet in Peshawar under the leadership of the chairman of the committee Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad.

The regional committee will hold meetings in their respective areas.

The private committee headed by Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai will also meet at the Qasim Ali Khan Mosque today.

A statement issued from Qasim Ali Khan Mosque on Sunday stated that it will be the 29th of Shaaban-ul Muazzam on March 11, Monday.

Therefore, the faithful should arrange for sighting the crescent for the month of Ramazan as per the traditions of the Holy Prophet (SAW).
