PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member National Assembly Abdul Latif on Wednesday said that those who had stolen people’s mandate had discredited democracy.

Speaking at a press conference here, the MNA from Chitral said that the recently held elections in the country were not a democratic process by any means of democracy. The nation had reposed trust in the leadership of Imran Khan but those holding the election had deprived the PTI of its rightful mandate through manipulation in Form 45, he added.

Accompanied by other PTI leaders, including Wazirzada, Ravi Kumar, Abdul Latif said that the PTI would approach the courts against this injustice. “The incumbent rulers know that they have formed the government with a stolen mandate,” he went on to add.

He said that if they were elected by votes then they should swear on the Holy Quran in the National Assembly to claim that they were elected by people. The reserved seats of the PTI were distributed among those parties who did not deserve, he added.

He said that a party that had only six members elected on general seats were awarded 10 reserved seats. He termed it unfortunate that these people who were rejected by the people would now represent them in the National Assembly.

He said that the PDM were reluctant in taking part in the election but when it had to go to the masses its leaders decided to impose themselves on the people of the country through illegal means.

About the post-snowfall situation in Chitral, he said that he was in contact with the administration of the two districts. “The work is going on to reopen the blocked roads in the two districts,” he added.
