LAHORE: Pakistan’s emerging boxer Ibrahim went down to Somchay Wongsuwan of Thailand in the 63.5 kilogramme weight category preliminaries in the World Qualifying Round for the Paris Olympics in Italy.
Ibrahim lost 5-0. Meanwhile, London-based Laura Akram developed an ankle injury during training and could not play her first 60kg bout against Anna Julia Jenni. Heavyweight boxer Azhar will on Wednesday (today) meet Acik Yusuf of Turkmenistan. The country’s premier boxer Zohaib Rasheed was the sole hope but he vanished the other day without playing any bout.
