BKMC honours alumni, acknowledges former officeholders’ contributions
PESHAWAR: The management of Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) organized an event on Sunday to honour the alumni, and acknowledge the contributions of former officeholders in the building of the educational institution.
A press release said that commendation certificates were also awarded to the best-performing employees.Chairman of the Medical Teaching Institutions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Policy Board and former dean of BKMC, Prof Dr Ziaul Islam, Mayor Mardan Himayatullah Mayar, and members of BoGs MTI Mardan including Advocate Muhammad Shakeel, Pir Waheed, and S.A Shakeel were among the attendees. Also present were Dean/CEO MTI Mardan Prof Dr Amjad Ali, Hospital Director MMC Dr Tariq Mahmood, Medical Superintendent Dr Javed Iqbal, Secretary BoG Azhar Khan, Director of Finance Muhammad Sheraz, faculty members, doctors, staff members, and others.
Alumni and former officeholders, including former deans BKMC Prof Dr Ziaul Islam, Prof Dr Muhammad Israr, former medical director of MMC Prof Dr Mukhtiar Ali, former deputy hospital director Dr Javed Iqbal, Mayor Mardan Himayatullah Mayar, former principal BKMC, former HD MMC, and former project director BKMC Dr. Abdul Jameel were presented with Chitrali Caps (Pakols) and traditional Pashtun chaddars (shawls).
Prof Dr Muhammad Khalid (former DMS), Dr. Muhammad Nisar, Dr. Faridullah Shah, Dr. Shafi Ullah (former chairman of community medicines), Dr. Muhammad Manzoor (former AP Physiology), Prof. Dr. Kifayat Ullah (former Chairman of Orthopedics), and Dr. Fakrul Islam (former professor of surgery) were also honored with Chitrali Pakols and traditional shawls.
The event organizers, Associate Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem and Assistant Prof Dr Salman Malik, also received Chitrali Pakols and shawls. Staff members from various BKMC departments were awarded appreciation certificates and cash rewards.
Principal of Bacha Khan College of Dentistry, Prof Dr Munir Khan, welcomed the guests, stating that the event was organized to reminisce about good memories of the past and create new ones to cherish in the future.
Speaking at the occasion, Dean/CEO MTI Mardan, Prof Dr Amjad Ali, mentioned that the event was organized to honour the alumni and acknowledge the contributions of former officeholders who played a crucial role in establishing and building the educational institution, which is now considered one of the top educational institutions in the province. He also said that acknowledging the services of the best-performing employees was another objective of the event.
He added that the initiative of celebrating the best employees was introduced by Dr. Tariq Mahmood, and the event would now be organised regularly.In his address, the Chairman KP Policy Board Prof Dr Ziaul Islam recounted the story of how he was assigned the task of starting a medical college in Mardan, the hurdles he encountered, and the efforts made to establish a complete medical institution capable of catering to the needs of a growing number of students and related services in the future.
