MANSEHRA: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced plans to build a residential complex for doctors, paramedics and other staff of King Abdullah Teaching Hospital (Kath) to make their services more efficient for the patients taken from across upper parts of Hazara Division.

“We had taken up the residential complex and some other important necessary projects with the Saudi Development Funds in the Economic Affairs Division’s recent meeting and they agreed to build a residential complex for over 500 doctors, paramedics and other staffers,” Dr Shahzad Ali Khan, the medical superintendent of Kath told reporters.

He said the proposed King Mohammad Salman residential complex was one of the key projects required in the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, which was reconstructed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after it developed dangerous cracks in the 2005 devastating earthquake.

“The over 500 staff members, including 137 doctors, paramedics and other employees, will be able to serve patients in a better way if we provide them with residential facilities,” Dr Shahzad said.

He added that the Saudi delegation lauded their working relations with Kath management as they had recently delivered 60 percent of pledged high-tech surgical and medical machines, beds and other facilities.

“We have been expecting delivery of remaining consignments of modern and high-tech machines shortly,” Dr Shahzad said. The MS said that they also submitted different proposals with the SDF for the establishment of a 120-bed maternal newborn and Child Health (MNCH) unit and a modern cardiology unit with a Catheter laboratory.

“We have recently established a 10-bed kidney unit and launched dialysis services for patients through high-tech machines delivered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” he added.
