LAHORE: Punjab Population Welfare Department Director General Saman Rai has said the department has initiated a major project in collaboration with Primary and Secondary Health Department regarding pre-marital counselling and guidance for a successful married life. She chaired a meeting of field officers of the project launched in the province for the youth here on Tuesday.
Saman Rai said the project has been initiated in four districts of Punjab including Kasur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, and Rawalpindi. She said its scope will soon be expanded to other districts. She said pre-marital counselling is an exemplary project of the Punjab
government’s Population Welfare Department to manifest the dream of a prosperous society.
She said that in this series, trained teams including outlets, family health clinics, family welfare centres, mobile service units, health production units, and rural health centres are providing services. She said marital counselling not only provides guidance for making the right decisions about marriage but also provides mental training for newlywed couples to lead a successful married life.
