Father of five children shot dead by robbers
A man was killed apparently for offering resistance during a mugging bid in Shah Faisal Colony on Wednesday. With his death, the number of citizens killed during robberies in the city has reached 20 this year.
The incident took place in Shah Faisal Colony No 1. The deceased was identified as Javed Iqbal. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Quoting Iqbal’s relatives, police said the deceased man had come out of a bank and was on his way to a market to buy grocery when robbers intercepted him.
As the man made an attempt to overpower one of the robbers, the other robbers opened fire on him. The deceased man was shot four times. A teenage vegetable vendor identified as 14-year-old Ali who was passing by the scene was also hit once by gunshot, police said.
The deceased nab was an employee of the Oil and Gas Development Company and father of five children. The family said they had no enmity with anyone. A case has been registered and investigations are under way.
