UHE hosts exhibition of eco-friendly vehicles
LAHORE : The University of Home Economics (UHE) hosted its inaugural auto exhibition, spotlighting an array of eco-friendly vehicles here on Saturday.
The exhibition catered specifically to female students, showcasing a diverse range of eco-friendly bikes, cycles, and rickshaws.
UHE Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Faleeha Zahra Kazmi presided over the event, personally inspecting the electric vehicles on display. Secretary of Women Development, Sumaira Samad, SP Punjab Police, Syeda Shahrbanu, Director Automotive UET, Dr. Ali Kazim, Miss Fahmida, Bushra Khaliq, and a multitude of students and visitors were present on the occasion.
The exhibition featured an impressive lineup of electric bikes, cycles, and rickshaws, drawing considerable interest from the attendees.
Sumaira Samad took a ride on an e-bike within the university premises, underscoring the practicality and accessibility of eco-friendly transportation options.
Speaking at the Automotive Congress held in collaboration with UET, Secretary Sumaira Samad highlighted the Punjab government's initiatives to empower women, including the distribution of e-motorcycles to female students on affordable installment plans.
She also emphasized ongoing partnerships with various companies to promote the development of environment-friendly vehicles.
Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi expressed delight at the university's maiden auto show, emphasizing its unique focus on eco-friendly transportation solutions. She underscored the potential of alternative energy sources in combating Lahore's persistent smog issue, emphasizing the university's commitment to collaborating with the auto industry to introduce innovative designs.
The UHE’s Department of Textiles and Interior Design pledged to collaborate closely with the auto industry, leveraging their expertise to pioneer cutting-edge designs that prioritise sustainability, she added.
