Farmers’ leader passes away
MARDAN: Haji Naimat Shah Roghani, president of Anjuman-e-Kashtkaran Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, passed away after a prolonged illness and was buried in his ancestral graveyard in Sawaldher area on Thursday.
Born in 1930 in Sawaldher, a rural area of Mardan district, Naimat Shah Roghani played a significant role in Tehreek-e-Pakistan and the then Pakistan Muslim League. Actively involved in improving the lives of farmers and the local population, he was twice elected as a BD member in the 1960s under President Ayub Khan’s regime.
In 1962, Roghani became the president of Mardan district for Anjuman-e-Kashtkaran (AK), a farmer organisation. Over the next 50 years, his dedication and hard work led him to become the provincial president of AK. In 1967, he joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and actively promoted the party’s message, winning elections and serving as a member of the District Council Mardan.
