ISLAMABAD: A dispute has arisen between the Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad and the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority over the ownership of Mauve Area Sector G-14-4, due to which the housing authority has also postponed the auction of commercial plots of G-14. According to Quaid-e-Azam University, the land for Sector G-144 was acquired with the money of university employees. It was agreed that 60 percent of the proceeds from the auction of the commercial plots in the area would be given to the university and 40 percent to the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority. It said the housing authority had auctioned commercial plots but did not give a share to the university.
The housing authority said it was not for profit and it works on a no-loss basis. The income from the commercial plots of the sector is spent on the development and maintenance of the sector. It was decided with the Quaid-e-Azam University that the housing authority will do the maintenance of the sector. The authority has spent crores of rupees on the maintenance and development of the sector, it maintained.Now the matter is in the Islamabad High Court. The next hearing will be held on January 17.
