A summary containing names of two experts has been sent to Sindh caretaker chief minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, seeking his approval for forming a search committee which would appoint key officials to the provincial education boards.

The planned search committee comprises retired bureaucrat Muhammad Hussain Syed and former Hyderabad education board chairman Dr Muhammad Memon. Once approved, it would also include the Sindh Higher Education Commission chairman, College Education secretary, Boards and Universities secretary and Higher Education secretary as permanent members.

Approximately, 300 applicants had applied for the posts of chairpersons, controllers, secretaries and audit officers at eight education boards in Sindh. The search committee would begin reviewing these applications soon after its formation. The selection process is planned to be completed by February 8.

However, a summary regarding appointing a law university’s vice chancellor is pending approval by the CM.

The summary contains names of Justice (retd) Sarmad Jalal Usmani and a retired judge of the Sindh High Court. They would make a search committee which would interview candidates for the position of vice chancellor at a law university in the province.

The summary has been delayed due to objections on the nominated names, therefore the interviews have not been started yet.
