New Year’s Eve traffic diversion plan announced

The Karachi Traffic Police have issued a traffic diversion and arrangements for DHA residents and others on New Year’s Eve 2024.

Officials said on Friday that on the intervening night of December 31, 2023, and January 1, 2024, the public celebrate the arrival of the New Year at various entertainment venues such as Clifton, Bagh-e-Ibn-e-Qasim and Sea View.

In this regard, the public, especially the residents of DHA, are informed that they will be able to go to their destinations through the following routes and alternative routes, and residents of the areas from where traffic has been diverted by alternative routes are requested to keep the original identity cards with them.

Routes and diversions

All those who will not be allowed to go through the Expressway and Korangi via Akhtar Colony via Khayaban Ittehad (Sea View) will be diverted via Korangi Road to Sunset Boulevard Road, Gizri Bridge, Saudia Signal on the right side of Khayaban Shamsher and McDonald’s to Sea View Road. In the same way, people going from Do Darya to Golf Club, Ayesha Mosque, or nearby areas can do so through 26th Street to reach their destinations.

Those who want to come from North Nazimabad, Gulberg, Liaquatabad, Gulshan Iqbal, New Karachi to DHA will go via MA Jinnah Road, Garden Road, Zeb-un-Nissa Street, Avari traffic light signal, Sindh Club Chowk, Hoshang Chowk, Teen Talwar, Do Talwar to the left from Zam Zam Boulevard Road on the right side from Khayaban Shamsher and to McDonalds, Sea View.

Those who want to come to DHA from Gadap, Bin Qasim, Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Jamshed and Sadar can do so through Sharea Faisal, Sindh Club Chowk, Hoshang Chowk Teen Talwar, Race Course Signal on Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road on the left and Gizri Bridge, Saudi Consulate signal on the right, and on the other side, through Khayaban Shamsher and Sea View, McDonalds, Jinnah Bridge via Mai Kolachi to Boat Basin, Bilawal House Chowrangi and Marine Permanent Road.

No traffic will be allowed at the following locations. From PIDC Chowk (Ziauddin Road) towards Ziauddin Bridge towards signal, (PIDC Chowk Club Chowk (Club Road), Bilawal Chowrangi to Bahria Underpass (Clifton Helipad), Mazar Abdullah Shah Ghazi to 26Th Street and Mazar Abdullah Shah Ghazi towards Do Talwar, no traffic will be allowed on the above routes.

Officials said those returning from Sea View will be able to go back to their destinations from Clock Tower to Khayaban Ittehad Road, Akhtar Colony. Apart from this, they will be able to go back to their destinations by taking the route of Gulf Club through Do Darya. No vehicle will be allowed to go back to McDonald’s.

No heavy traffic will be allowed from Mauripur Road to Jinnah Bridge, Mai Kolachi, and traffic will be able to move from Jinnah Bridge via Hub River Road or Sharea Pakistan to its destination. However, small traffic will be able to use Jinnah Bridge via Mai Kolachi and MT Khan Road, PIDC Chowk to Shaheen Chowk to Sharea Faisal. All heavy traffic such as water tankers, dumpers, trawlers, etc. will not be allowed to enter the city from 6pm till the traffic becomes normal.

No parking will be allowed on the following roads: Sharea Faisal, Abdullah Haroon Road, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Mai Kolachi Road, Korangi Road and MT Khan Road.

Legal action will be taken against vehicles with broken silencers or vehicles without silencers and bikers and those driving negligently and they will be handed over to police for legal action. Residents of DHA 5, 6 and 7 phases choose the following intersections to go to the fairs and nearby streets that are open. Street 26-Ittehad, Saba Avenue– Ittehad, Shaheen Light Signal–Ittehad, Shujahat Light Signal-Ittehad and Bahria Inter-Section–Ittehad.

The public is requested to take an alternative route to avoid trouble and so that they can reach their destinations without hassle.
