Two unidentified suspects kidnapped an O level student with his car near Gulshan-e-Maymar late on Tuesday night. The SITE Super Highway police registered a case on the complaint of 19-year-old Syed Mujtaba Ali’s mother Amna Bibi.
The mother said that in response to her online advertisement to sell a plot, two persons visited their home and checked the relevant documents, then asked the family if they could drop them home, where they would make the full payment of Rs16.5 million.
The family agreed, and they set off at around 11pm on Tuesday towards Taimuria to take the suspects home. As they reached the Admore Pump near Ahsanabad, the suspects first forced the teenager’s uncle Osama to get out of the car at gunpoint.
After that they proceeded towards the Jamali flyover, where they told the mother to get out of the car, then they left with the teenager, the car and the plot documents.
SHO Ejaz Masan said police teams are working on the case with the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee to trace and arrest the suspects and rescue the abductee.
The officer said the Anti-Violent Crime Cell, a specialised unit of the Karachi police to deal with kidnapping cases, is yet to be involved because no ransom call has been made by the kidnappers.
