Chrysanthemum show gets underway at Islamia College
PESHAWAR: The beautiful flowers displayed in a spectacular manner by the seasoned gardeners of the historic Islamia College Peshawar at the advent of winter seasons became a source of attraction for all and sundry as the traditional ‘Gul-e-Dawoodi’ (Chrysanthemum) exhibition got underway on Tuesday.
The inaugural function of the exhibition, which has become a regular feature of the historic institution to mark the arrival of winter with colours and fragrance, was arranged at the spacious lawns of the century-old institution.
Caretaker Provincial Minister of Education Prof Dr Qasim Jan was the chief guest on the occasion.In his address, Prof Dr. Qasim Jan commended Islamia College University for continuing the rich traditions and emphasized the importance of such activities for the betterment of the institution. He urged students to actively contribute to the improvement of the environment, emphasizing their crucial role in fostering a clean and sustainable campus.
Vice-Chancellor of Islamia College, Prof Dr. Gul Majeed Khan, expressed his appreciation for the scholars contributing to the legacy of the historical institution. In recognition of their efforts, he announced cash prizes for the gardeners to encourage and motivate their continued dedication.
Among others, the event was attended by Prof Ali Muhammad Khan, Haroon, Prof Sarir Badshah, Sajjad Ali Khan, Nasirin Ghaffar, President of Teaching Staff Association Fazal Wahab, General Secretary Awal Syed, Shabir Ahmed, Director Sports Ali Hoti and Amir Izhar.
The Chrysanthemum exhibition serves as a beacon, illuminating the path towards intellectual and artistic growth at Islamia College. Dr Qasim Jan further emphasized the commitment to cultural heritage and academic excellence. He lauded the institution for its commendable initiatives.
The event is a testament to the dedication and vision of Islamia College in providing a well-rounded education to its students, he said.
