IIU, Turkish university agree to cooperate

Islamabad: The International Islamic University and Turkey’s Akdeniz University have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation through establishment of joint scientific and educational forums.

In this respect, a protocol of cooperation was signed by IIU Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and Akdeniz University Rector Professor Mustafa Unal during a special ceremony here.

Both the sides agreed on the exchange of administrative staff members, students, teaching staff members and researchers. They also decided to strengthen mutual knowledge-sharing and cooperation on cultural activities.

According to the protocol of cooperation, seminars and conferences on scientific topics will be held through bilateral cooperation, while steps to practically and legally shape the proposed points of cooperation will be expedited to enable both the universities to sign an MoU in this regard.

The IIU rector stressed the need for linking research with development and said the connection of academia to the industry could pave the way for the successful results in terms of production of skilled professionals.

He called for better collaboration among the Muslim countries’ universities saying the IIUI is an asset of Muslim world and that it will be happy to have Turkish students on its campus.

Yasinzai also said the university would welcome collaborations with other Muslim countries’ universities.

He apprised the participants about the university and said as many as 30,000 on campus students were acquiring quality education integrated with teachings of Islam in the separate campuses for male and female students.

The IIU rector said the university had been producing harmonious scholars with balanced approach and blend of Islamic teachings.
