KMU announces MDCAT results

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Medical University (KMU) on Wednesday announced the results of the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2023. A total of 46218 candidates had registered for the test of whom 34,852 students appeared in the test.

According to the results, Taimur Iqbal, Anam Khan, Amanullah, Muhammad Mutaal Azeem, Mohammad Asim Ayaz and Haseeb Khan secured first position each with 192 marks, Muneeba Hassan, Sangeen Khan and Zain Abid secured second position with 191 marks and Mussadiq Anwar and Muqtasid Khan got third position with 190 marks. Mansoor Ali Khan, the last among the top 20 candidates, has secured 189 marks in the MDCAT test.

The MDCAT test for admissions to medical and dental colleges across the province was held in 11 examination centres at seven regions of the province, in which a total 34852 students appeared, where 11366 remained absent.

The MDCAT examination has 200 marks, and obtaining minimum marks for admission is 120 which is mandatory for admission to government and private sector medical colleges and securing 100 marks are mandatory for BDS admission. Meanwhile, Khyber Medical University (KMU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ziaul Haq congratulated the successful students, especially the position holders.

He expressed the hope that the young generation would come up to the expectations of their parents and teachers and would serve the ailing humanity.

He appreciated the well-coordinated efforts between the KMU, provincial government and security agencies in preparing examination results and ensuring transparency of the examination system. He said that due to the foolproof arrangements and security plan of the Home Department and other institutions, the examination was held in a very peaceful atmosphere and no untoward incident or complaint was received from anywhere.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and the provincial government had tasked KMU with conducting the MDCAT.

He appreciated the role and hard work of KMU Registrar Inamullah Khan Wazir, Convener Admission Committee Prof Dr Jawad Ahmad, Director Admissions Zille Huma, Additional Director Arshad, Additional Director Information Technology Muhammad Sohail and his team including deans, faculty members and all the staff.

He appreciated the KMU staff for their hard work that enabled them to conduct MDCAT in a very transparent way.

“KMU is shining in the sky far beyond jealousy, conspiracy and threats. Our initiatives significantly strengthened KMU. We saw an opportunity in this disaster and exploited its potential to the fullest extent of our abilities,” he said.
