‘Punjmin has potential to produce more rock salt’
LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals Ibrahim Hassan Murad said that Punjab Mineral Development Corporation (Punjmin) has the potential to produce more rock salt and processing can play an important role in the export of rock salt.
These views were expressed by the provincial minister while presiding over the meeting held regarding the performance of Punjmin.
The minister directed that a memorandum to stop selling of salt in farms should be sent to the authority concerned.
He also directed to approach PMDC for mining ventures, processing and export of rock salt. Punjmin GM said that coal projects were in loss due to increasing demand for Afghanistan/imported coal. On which Punjmin MD was directed to submit a detailed report related to coal smuggling in Afghanistan along with evidence within a week. MD was also directed to submit the balance sheets of the last five years. To ensure transparency, instructions were also given to conduct E auctions and bidding for all types of tenders/actions in Punjmin. MD pointed out that the post of Chairman of the Board of Directors is vacant. The corporation is facing serious problems due to lack of approval for financial matters.
