Second phase of repatriating illegal immigrants under way: Achakzai
QUETTA: Balochistan Caretaker Minister for Information Jan Achakzai said on Wednesday that 10 lakh undocumented immigrants would be repatriated by the end of January 2024.
Addressing a news conference at Quetta Press Club here on Wednesday, he said the second phase of repatriating undocumented immigrants had commenced, adding “Till now, more than 120,000 illegal immigrants have been repatriated.”
He said about 2,000 immigrants without legal documents had been detained across the province during the crackdown on illegal immigrants across Balochistan. An operation against undocumented immigrants including Afghan citizens was in progress without any discrimination, said Achakzai.
He said there were reports that the body of a terrorist, whose three accomplices were killed during a gun-battle with security forces near Wali Tungi dam some 38 days ago, was found on Wednesday. He said a banned organisation had claimed the attack in Wali Tungi one week ago.
