KARACHI: The flight operations of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) were managed as per fuel supply on Monday and 60 international and domestic flights have been operated since Sunday night.

The PIA spokesperson told The News that the airline operated flight operations as per availability of fuel and dispelled the news that domestic and international flights were cancelled on Monday. PIA flight operations had been affected due to the fuel supply issue for the last many days as the flights scheduled for domestic and international routes were either cancelled or delayed after the national flag-carrier couldn’t receive enough fuel from the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) to keep its operations smooth.

On the other hand, the PSO claimed to refuel 18 PIA flights on Monday and confirmed receiving Rs 109 million from the PIA. Local TV channels ran the news that on Monday, PIA flights were cancelled on domestic and international routes. However, the PIA spokesperson denied it and said Monday operations were planned as per availability of fuel. The PSO said that early Monday, it supplied Rs 948 million worth of fuel whereas it received Rs 920 million from the PIA. However, in the evening, the received amount surged to Rs 109 million to refuel 18 flights.
