Five people were injured in firing incidents in different areas of the city on Sunday. A 40-year-old man, Asif, son of Ashraf, was injured when a stray bullet hit him in New Karachi Sector 5-D within the limits of the Bilal Colony police station. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
In another firing incident, a 28-year-old man, Ahmed Shah, son of Tanveer Shah, was injured in the Mujahid Colony area of Nazimabad. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said the man was shot over a personal enmity.
Separately, Muhammad Arsalan, 28, who served as a guard of a private security company for a private hospital in the Dhoraji area of New Town, was injured after his rifle accidentally went off.
He was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
In another incident, a 24-year-old youth, Asif Raza, son of Ali Raza, was injured after robbers shot him in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. He was shifted to the JPMC.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old teenage boy, Salman, son of Wali Khan, was shot and injured by robbers after he put up resistance during a mugging bid in the Mehmoodabad area. He was taken to the JPMC for medical treatment.
Mugging victim dies
An elderly British citizen, who was injured for resisting a mugging bid on the second day of Eidul Azha, died during treatment at a hospital on Sunday.
A businessman, Zahid Qureshi, was shot dead by bandits in Bhens Colony within the limits of the Sukkan police station on the second day of Eid. His brother-in-law Haji Younus, 75, was also seriously injured in the incident and was being given treated at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday afternoon.
According to police officials, the deceased was a citizen of Britain and he had come to Karachi for Eid. Police handed over the body to the heirs after completion of legal proceedings.
