25 terrorists killed in S Waziristan, Tirah blitz

RAWALPINDI: Twenty-five terrorists were killed and their seven hideouts destroyed in offences carried out by security forces in South Waziristan and Khyber tribal agencies on Wednesday, the Pakistan Army said.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), precise aerial strikes were carried out in the Sanzila area of South Waziristan and Khyber Agency’s Tirah Valley earlier in the day.It said that seven terrorist hideouts were destroyed and at least 25 militants were killed in the action.
The Pakistan Army launched a major offensive in 2014 against foreign and local militants, who were hiding in the northwestern tribal region bordering Afghanistan, a week after the brazen insurgent attack on the country’s busiest airport in Karachi. —Agencies
Our Bara correspondent adds: The military forces killed five suspected militants while six others sustained injuries when jet fighters pounded their hideouts in the Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency, official sources said on Wednesday.
They said the jet fighters targeted the hideouts of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-i-Islam (LI) at Tarkhu Kas and Jabbar Mela in Bar Qambarkhel.The sources said five suspected militants were killed and six others were injured in the bombardment.Meanwhile, 40 militants were killed in Nato bombing of their hideouts in Afghanistan, a private TV channel reported. The militants belonged to defunct TTP, Lashkar-e-Islam and Afghan Taliban. More than 30 Taliban were injured in the Nato raids.
