Painting exhibition held in Mardan
MARDAN: Laasoona Welfare Organization in collaboration with Directorate of Culture, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, organized a daylong painting exhibition and competition at Sheikh Maltoon town, Mardan here.
Around 50 young local artists participated in the competition where a large numbers of beautiful handcrafted paintings and artworks were put on display. Social worker Zahir Shah Toru and Tehsil member Ilyas Khan inaugurated the event.
Young artists highlighted various aspects of the KP culture and ethnic groups in their artworks. Participants showered accolades on the artists. Large of elders, notables, locals, students, teachers and art-lovers attended the event and evinced keen interest in the paintings.
Huma Gul, student of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, 7th grader Hasan Akhtar and Abdul Basit grabbed first, second and third position in the painting contest. Huma Gul said she hoped that KP government would continue to provide such platforms to the people.
She said young artists were in dire need of opportunities, encouragement and public appreciation of their talent. Speaking at the event Zahir Shah Toru said that young artists had beautifully exhibited different colours and aspects of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa which was expressive of their talent and creativity.
“I appreciate KP Culture Department which is providing a rare platform to young talent to come forward and display their ability and creativity. I see bright future of all young participants who contested in the art competition,” he added.
Chief organizers of Laasoona Welfare Organization -Jahangir and Amir remarked that the basic objective of the painting competition was to encourage young and make them glorify different cultures and diversity of our province.
