Bitten by the dog, the woman and her pet were rushed to the hospital, according to the BBC.

In response to the terrifying attack, Cleveland Police said the dog posed a threat to the public, so a specially trained officer was given the task: to put down the pit bull-like canine.

However, the police action did not stop there.

In connection with the incident, two persons, a man and a woman, were arrested.

But after a series of questioning by detectives, the duo were released on bail.

Though it is unclear what breed the dog is, as the investigation is ongoing.

But Assistant Chief Constable Dave Sutherland assured the public that the situation is under control following the shocking incident.

"We understand anyone who witnessed the initial attack or the aftermath may have experienced shock or distress; however, the safety of the public is always paramount,” he concluded.
