Trump’s White House cage match plan fails to win over most Americans, poll finds

A poll reportedly reveals that the majority of Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump’s plan to host an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) mixed martial arts event on the White House South Lawn this Sunday.

Only 16% of Americans held the view that it was appropriate for Trump to hold the Ultimate Fighting Championship event scheduled for his 80th birthday, while 46% said it was unsuitable and the rest remained impartial.

The six-day poll which concluded on Monday, clarified that only 31% of Republicans deemed it appropriate- a small share considering that eight in 10 Republicans officially validated his entire conduct.

Earlier, President Trump reportedly proposed canceling all the musical performances at the Great American State Fair in Washington, marking a significant shift after several musicians announced they had pulled out of the event.

Trump’s administration reportedly asked a judge to halt the UFC event after local residents' championship events are barred on the White House’s South Lawn and that the large metal arena being constructed for the fight lacks the required approval.

The poll was conducted online and surveyed 4,531 US adults and had an uncertainty interval of 2 percentage points.

It is pertinent to mention that Trump’s ties with the UFC date back to the early 2000s when he undertook to coordinate events at his Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
