"Prince William, of course, the future king, is planning for the future,"

Royal historian Rafe Heydel-Mankoo has shared insight into the future of the British royal family and believes that Prince William will abdicate.

Rafe joined presenters Anne Diamond and Mark White on the GB News show to make a startling prediction about the future king.

Anne commented, "Prince William, of course, the future king, is planning for the future," adding "A slightly more laidback attitude towards modern life."

Rafe agreed and said, "Yes. I think we're going to see a huge change in the type of monarchy we have when he comes to the throne."

He believes the Prince of Wales, who is next to the line of throne, will abdicate to "give the next generation a chance" at taking the throne at a younger age.

Rafe continued, "We can see King Charles is very much his mother's son in a way that you wouldn't necessarily be able to say about Prince William, who I think will have a very different idea of what it is to be a monarch.

"I personally think Prince William will be the first monarch to abdicate."

The GB News shared the video clip on X, formerly Twitter handle, where one fan commented, “No way that Prince William will abdicate....He got so much support and is best Trainer, actually the last one being trained by the late Queen.”

Another said, “William is years from taking the throne. He would not burden George by giving him the crown when he is young.”
