Ellie Goulding makes touching confession about new song 'Black Prada Dress'
Ellie Goulding released her latest song, 'Black Prada Dress,' on June 5, 2026
Ellie Goulding recently opened up about how it feels to live with insecurities and find yourself trapped “inside a self-conscious loop.”
Goulding took to Instagram to thank her fans for showing support after she announced her return to music with the news of a new album, I Know Too Much, at the start of the month.
In her post, the 39-year-old English singer-songwriter and activist, who dropped her first single Black Prada Dress from the album on June 5, also talked about her vulnerabilities.
Expressing herself, she wrote, “Thank you for all the love on Black Prada Dress. This song is really about my inner dialogue and the insecurities I’ve carried for as long as I can remember that have shaped me as a person but also kept me inside a self conscious loop.”
“Writing it was a way of confronting those feelings and transforming them into something cathartic and powerful, and it means so much that it’s resonated with so many of you,” Goulding explained.
Notably, the song refers to her covert speech, as the Brightest Blue songstress sings: “It doesn't feel like love to me/ First, you tell me that I'm pretty, then you say it's just the lights/ Always saying something s****** after saying something nice.”
“You know every single button to press/ Only you can call me trashy in my black Prada dress,” she croons.
It is pertinent to mention that Ellie Goulding, who took a year break from music, will release her sixth studio album I Know Too Much on September 4, 2026.
