North West's new song with Lil Novi is being met with mixed reactions.

The 12-year-old musician teamed up with the 16-year-old rapper on the track Mula Tha Root of All Evil, which was released on Friday.

Lil Novi, whose parents are rapper Lil Wayne and singer Nivea, joins North, creating heavy beats and lyrics on money and success. In the music video, North appears with blue hair and grills next to Lil Novi, who is heard rapping, “If they say money the root of all evil then I'm a demon”.

North also delivers several lines about luxury and cash, carrying on her move into music after last month’s debut single.

"If it ain't about a bag I'm leavin'. Too much ice, I'm freezin'," she raps at one point, while her other verses read, "Had to wear a mask 'cause the bank account too nasty. Wanna see a milli' in cash? Then get at me. Got this green in my pocket like wasabi".

However, many listeners reacted negatively online, with some branding the song “trash” and others criticising what they described as celebrity nepotism in the music industry.

"I can’t tell if this is dog s*** or I’m just getting old," wrote one critic, while a second added, "Wow this is the most trash s*** ever!"

Despite the backlash, some fans defended the young performers and said the collaboration could be the start of bigger careers for both artists.

Someone noted, "This is what nepotism in music looks like. But I'm here for supporting the babies, this may be the start of something bigger."

North’s latest release marks her second official single after debut track #N0rth4evr generated controversy online over its music video and styling choices. However, North’s parents, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, have both supported her growing interest in music and performance.
