Both Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have houses on the royal grounds and right after a report by the National Audit Office revealed how King Charles is funding them.

Moreover for those unversed with the exact properties they are able to move in and out of, its Ivy Cottage in Kensington Palace which Princess Eugenie rents and St James Palace that Princess Beatrice rents.

According to the initial report by The Sun, “Neither of them are a working royal and neither receives funding through the Sovereign Grant, which is paid from Crown Estate profits. Instead, their rent is covered entirely by Charles through the Privy Purse, funded by income from the Duchy of Lancaster.”

As for what is being paid, reports claim that Eugenie’s rent stands at 50% of the property’s value which was evaluated back in 2018 and as for Eugenie it was

But now a former chair of an influential parliamentary committee has come forward, calling it ‘shocking’ since even with this report coming out, the public spending watchdog has not established Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s income from subletting properties.

The person in question is Margaret Hodge, who and she spoke to BBC’s Radio 4 about this and said, she was “very concerned” that the National Audit Office (NAO) was unable to come up with the actual number amount that Andrew was able to make out of it.

She was also quoted saying, “We all want a royal family to be continued to be respected, valued and treasured. I want a royal family, but in a modern era that does require proper transparency and accountability. It’s shocking that the National Audit Office was not able to establish how much money Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor secured from the properties he let.”

“The other thing that is worrying is that people like Beatrice and Eugenie and the Kents – Prince Michael of Kent and his wife – were also being subsidised in the way that they were living on the estate, they weren’t paying rent, and yet they’re not working royals. Now, is it appropriate for non-working royals to be subsidised by the taxpayer from a fund that belongs to the taxpayer?”

Before signing off she also said, “the crown estates is our money, it’s taxpayers’ money, it’s not theirs, and whoever runs that has to always ensure the taxpayers’ interest.”
