King Charles reflects on lifelong environmental passion in a new post
Palace is highlighting King Charles’ decades-long environmental fight on World Environment Day.
For the past five decades, the monarch's has been doing philanthropic work through The King's Foundation, which focuses on promoting sustainable living and a deeper connection to nature.
The king marked the environment day with a joint post on Instagram with a message highlighting environmentally responsible ways of living.
"Finding Harmony on #WorldEnvironmentDay," the caption began. "In 1970, at the age of 21, The King warned of the dangerous effects of plastic pollution on the environment. Over the five decades that have followed, His Majesty has continued to use his unique position to champion a sustainable future."
A video posted along with the caption featured King Charles as a young man when he was the Prince of Wales giving a speech in 1970, warning about the dangers of plastic pollution on the environment.
They continued, "Founded by His Majesty, as Prince of Wales, The King’s Foundation is underpinned by his philosophy of Harmony, which sees us as a part of nature, not apart from nature."
A documentary of King Charles for the environment titled Finding Harmony: A King's Vision was released on Amazon Prime Video on February 6, 2026

It is pertinent to mention that Charles founded The King’s Foundation in 1990, as the Prince of Wales.
