New information exposes over true cost of keeping Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor
The real cost that taxpayers paid to keep former Prince Andrew in office finally comes to light
Taxpayers are said to have paid a pretty penny when it comes to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the real cost of keeping him in office, on the state’s dime.
News of this comes as part of a report released by the i Paper and according to campaigns director at the TaxPayers’ Alliance, William Yarwood who spoke out regarding this, “Taxpayers will be appalled that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s trade envoy expenses ran to more than £2m, and the true cost is likely even higher once smaller travel costs and inflation are taken into account.”
He even talked about this ‘eye-watering’ bill and said that they show ‘why’ transparency over taxpayer-funded royal duties “should never have been optional.”
A similar statement has been made by the chief executive of anti-monarchy group Republic and according to it, the Mr Graham Smit called for “full disclosure” and “an inquiry into royal costs and expenses”.
In his eyes this finding shows there was “a complete disregard for public funds.” Especially since, in his own words, “this role was always about royal status rather than achieving anything significant for the UK, but these figures add to the impression the royals exploit these opportunities to live the jetset lifestyle at taxpayers expense.”
