When the royal family mentioned Tom Cruise in a rare statement
Royal family had issued a statement after the London premier of Top Gun: Maverick
Royal fans are celebrating four 4 years since Kate and William attended the Top Gun: Maverick London premiere with Tom Cruise.
It was one of those rare occasions when the British Royal Family had issued a statement on the release of a Hollywood film because Prince William and Kate Middleton, the future king and queen, were prominent among those who had attended the premiere with Tom Cruise.
Fans shared the royal couple's videos with Cruise as they remembered the premier of the movie that earned $1.496 billion globally, making it one of the highest-grossing films in history.
A Royal Family statement issued at the time said, Prince William and Kate Middleton "attended the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick at Leicester Square in London."
"The premiere was hosted by Paramount Pictures and The Film and TV Charity and was the 72nd Royal Film Performance™ delivered by the charity in its almost 100-year history."
The charity is an organisation that supports hundreds of thousands of people working behind the scenes in the UK’s film and television industry. This was especially apparent during the pandemic when the charity went above and beyond to help many of whom lost their livelihoods.
"Their Royal Highnesses were greeted at Leicester Square by the Lord Lieutenant and the CEO from the Film and TV Charity before being taken down the red carpet. They were then introduced to cast members from the film including Tom Cruise and Miles Teller."
The Prince and Princess of Wales then met film studio executives including Director Joe Kosinski, and representatives from The Film and TV Charity. They were then presented with posies and programmes before entering the auditorium to watch the film.
