Mariah Carey's Christmas crown challenged by another popstar
Mariah Carey has been maintaining her position as the 'Christmas Queen' for decades
Mariah Carey has been playfully warned to keep an eye on her Christmas crown.
According to E! News, Zooey Deschanel jokingly claimed she is gunning for the title of Queen of Christmas.
Speaking to the outlet, Deschanel quipped, “Look, I'm just — I'm just stating facts here. I have two Christmas movies out and two Christmas records."
The 45-year-old actress, who starred as Jovie opposite Will Ferrell in Elf, is currently featured in the festive film Merv.
Her band, She & Him, also released A Very She & Him Christmas in 2011 and Christmas Party in 2016.
“Does Mariah have two Christmas movies? I'm just wondering,” she teased.
As fans would know, Mariah Carey earned the public-bestowed title of Queen of Christmas thanks to her 1994 hit anthem All I Want for Christmas Is You.
The track serves as a centerpiece in the singing legend's album, Merry Christmas, alongside classic carols including Silent Night, O Holy Night, Joy to the World, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), and Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town.
The record also features originals like Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) and Jesus Born on This Day.
After the playful banter, Deschanel made it clear she has no intentions of stealing the crown.
She added, "No, I love Mariah. She is the Queen of Christmas,” after which she resigned from the chat.
