Prince Harry secretly joins royals to commemorate poignant event

Prince Harry shared uplifting words for fellow veterans in a surprise appearance on Sunday to commemorate a poignant event as the royal family honoured it at the Cenotaph in the UK.

The Duke of Sussex, who has served in the British military, made a sombre video appearance at the Heroic Hearts Project Gala, wearing his British military medals.

The clip, which had been pre-recorded in what appeared to be outside the Sussexes’ Montecito mansion, saw Harry speak in support of the organisation as he stressed on the importance of caring for their mental health citing his personal experience.

“As a combat veteran and someone who cares deeply about mental fitness I’ve seen how important genuine veteran-led support is,” he said.

“You guys have created a safe space where courage isn't defined by silence but by showing up. Where strength isn’t the absence of struggle, but the willingness to face it.”

Helmed by the charity, Heroic Hearts Project, the event aimed to support war veterans dealing with PTSD. While the organisation is US-based, Harry showed off his British roots proudly with his medals and a poppy pin for Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Day is the UK equivalent of Veterans Day in the US which are both marked on November 11, annually.

Meanwhile, King Charles had led a two-minute silence at the annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations, laying a wreath at the solemn ceremony held at the Cenotaph on Whitehall in central London.

He was joined by Prince William, Prince Edward while Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton, Duchess Sophie, Duke of Kent, Duke and Duchess of Gloucester watched from the balcony.
