Police officials reported that the London North Eastern Railway LNER train incident does not relate to ‘terrorism’ and was carried out by a lone attacker.

As per the latest reports, detectives investigating the mass stabbing train incident confirmed that a 32-year-old man is now being treated as the only suspect.

According to the Independent, police arrested a British National from Peterborough on suspicion of attempted murder, and he remains in custody for now.

The horrifying stabbing attack took place when a train travelling from Doncaster to London King's Cross stopped in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, shortly before Peterborough.

A 35-year-old man arrested at the scene previously has been released without any further action.

More than 10 people were injured in the horrifying train stabbing and were immediately taken to the hospital.

So far, five victims have now been discharged from the hospital, and one of the "heroic" staff members of LNER rail, who tried to stop the attacker, remains in a critical, life-threatening situation.

British armed police rushed to Huntingdon railway station to respond to an incident on Saturday night, which started as soon as the LNER train left Peterborough station.

One of the passengers said she came face-to-face with the 'knifeman' as she tried to flee the scene.

“I just said, please don’t kill me," Dayna Arnold told the officials.

"Something shifted in his face, and he just carried on and said the devil is not going to win," Dayna added.

The suspect, a black British man from Peterborough, boarded the LNER train at the city's station, the force said.

As further investigation revealed, the taxi driver, Turtur, also told a news outlet that he parked his vehicle next to the station after hearing a commotion from a man he believed was the suspect.

“He was holding the knife straight and asking the police to kill him,” Mr Turturica said.

“He repeated three or four times kill me, kill me, kill me.”

Witnesses initially thought it was a Halloween prank, but terrified passengers described barricading themselves in carriages and watching fellow travellers flee covered in blood as a real-time incident.

Although the motive of the suspected attacker is still unknown, police said that they do not believe the incident was motivated by terrorism.

Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy informed, "Our investigation is moving at pace and we are confident we are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident."
