ECP reply sought in bogus degree case

Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh of the Lahore High Court on Friday issued notices on petition challenging the election of PML-N MPA Irshad Ahmad Arain for possessing bogus BA degree.The Judge has sought reply from Election Commission of Pakistan and the MPA by March 15.

Petitioner Fazal-ur-Rehman alleged that Irshad Arain won election of Punjab Assembly PP-233, Vehari-II but he had bogus bachelor degree. He said that at the time of filing his nomination papers the MPA posed himself as a graduate but in realty he never passed BA examination and possessed bogus degree.

He said that Irshad Arain told a lie and he did not qualify to be member of provincial assembly under articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.  He requested the court to declare the election null and void.
