LAHORE
The Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed a petition challenging the imposition of Essential Services Maintenance Act 1952 for Pakistan International Airline (PIA).
Justice Shahid Waheed ruled that the petition was not maintainable as the impugned notification of imposition was not attached and the petitioner was not a workers confederation to agitate the issue before a court of law.
Petitioner advocate Ishtiaq Ahmad Chaudhry had claimed on January 31, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved the Essential Services Maintenance Act 1952 for PIA for a period of six months.
He submitted that the PM enforced the act after signing a summary of the aviation division to this effect.
