International education conference concludes at AIOU

Investment in teaching is the need of the day and is the best saving for the future of country and nation. The way forward is to strengthen teachers’ training programmes and to adopt new technologies for the dissemination of knowledge. Universities and educational institutions must focus on educational research.
This was stated by AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui in the concluding ceremony of the two-day ‘International Conference on Research and Practices in Education.’
The conference was organised in collaboration with Higher Education Commission and USAID. More than 170 scholars presented their research papers in the conference. The conference was attended by international experts of education from the advanced countries as well as a great number of researchers, scholars and teachers from more than 20 Pakistani universities.
While addressing on second day, Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui stressed on the role of education in development of society. He said that world is changing so quickly that we should be ready to accept these changes every moment. He said that inter-disciplinary approach is required to link education with other areas of research and learning. He said that qualitative paradigm should also be encouraged in the field of educational research in addition to quantitative methodology.
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui informed the audience that Allama Iqbal Open University is shifting towards online mode of learning and the availability of our courses will be made possible online in near future. He said that the university has launched a number of research journals to promote and encourage highest level of research in the country. He announced that the next international conference on Education will be held in February 2017.
Professor Lynn Fendler from the Michigan State University, USA, Professor Jeans Hosche from University of Montreal, Professor Rauf-e-Azam, VC, University of Education, Lahore and other eminent scholars and education experts expressed their views in the concluding session of the conference.
