88th birth anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto celebrated at SZABIST
Islamabad
Belated 88th birth anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was celebrated at SZABIST (Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology), here. The event was intended to recall all the sacrifices, services and devotions the distinguished persona has devoted to our nation and still out stands as a prominent leader throughout the globe.
SZABIST Social Sciences Society, spearheaded by the enthusiastic students of Department of Social Sciences, Syed Arif Hussain Shah (chairman), Beenish Zehra (vice chairman), Saad Baig (general secretary), Sahifa Khalil (joint secretary) and Abid Lehri (treasurer) kicked off the series of events for the year 2016.
Malik Hakmeen Khan chaired the proceedings with his witty yet invigorating address to the students. Mr. Hakmeen has held several political offices in the PPP secretariat and has been a Minister in the Punjab Cabinet. He in a very young age joined PPP and did reforms in different departments like Jails, Housing and Planning, Food and Cooperatives and Auqaf with the help of his practical wisdom. He has also served in the senate and takes part in many articles of constitution and bills.
Mr. Hakmeen emphasised upon reliving the true spirit and vision of Bhutto. He reinstated the fact that sometimes Bhutto was a redeemer, and some time was a protector for the people of Pakistan. Although Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s leadership was obviously a form of power, it is not marked by power over people – rather, a power with people that exists as a mutual relationship between a leader and his colleagues.
