Free education will be provided to students
Rawalpindi: Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Chairman Qamar-ul-Islam Raja, MPA, has said that quality education will be provided free to students through Public School Support Programme (PSSP) of the PEF.
This programme will not affect the service structure of the teachers in any way. He dispelled the impression that any fee would be charged from the students in the schools to be run through PSSP. He further told that only 1,000 schools, out of the 53,000 public sector schools, will be managed by the PEF, while the teachers of these schools will be relocated near to their homes.
He was addressing a gathering of PEF partner schools, owners of private schools and non-governmental organisations at PEF regional office in Rawalpindi on Monday. In his address, the PEF chairman said that PSSP will be run on non-commercial, non-profit basis to provide best quality education to the students. He hoped that this programme will have multiple positive effects on the school education sector; helping in improving the enrolment ratio in these schools as well as improving the quality of education for the students who mostly belong to low-income families. He said that PSSP is aimed to provide conducive atmosphere so that the students could fully benefit, besides helping the out of school and drop out children to study without being burdened.
