KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) needs all out support of the federal and Punjab governments for Pakistan Hockey League, especially for security arrangements, said secretary Shahbaz Sr on Monday.
Talking to ‘The News’ from Lahore after holding a meeting with relevant people, he said foreign players had shown concern about security situation. “We will have to make extraordinary arrangements to organise PHL successfully,” he added.
The meeting, which took place at PHF secretariat, was attended by the technically qualified parties and representatives of PHF.
Shahbaz said that through the PHL, they wanted to revive hockey in the country. He said that the national game had been fast improving in the country since the “present management of PHF took the responsibilities” as a number of domestic events had been held and many were in the pipeline.
Shahbaz applauded the federal and provincial governments for supporting the revival of hockey in the country and hoped that they would provided all support for the PHL.
The PHF secretary said that foreign players from Holland, Australia, Germany and England were likely to participate in the PHL. Shahbaz said the PHF was making every effort to make the event commercially successful.
