Intermediate part-II exam starts today

Intermediate Part-II Annual Examination, 2016, will start in nine boards of intermediate and secondary education (BISEs) of Punjab today. 

As many as 621,854 candidates, 285,188 boys and 336,666 girls, are appearing in the exam for which 1,996 examination centres have been set up in all the BISEs of the province.

For the smooth and transparent conduct of the examination, 15,965 invigilators, 1,996 superintendents, 2,054 deputy superintendents, 924 mobile inspectors, 480 distributing iinspectors and 1,834 resident inspectors have been appointed. 

Chinese delegation: A four-member delegation from Haikou, China, arrived in Lahore to establish friendly relations between the two cities.

The delegation is hosted by Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT). Han Bin, director general of Haikou Foreign Affairs Office and Captain (R) Muhammad Usman Younas, administrator/ DCO of Lahore, signed a letter of intent to develop friendly cooperation between Lahore and Haikou. According to the letter, the two cities will carry out, in accordance with the principles of equality and mutual benefit, exchanges and cooperation in various forms in the fields of economy and trade tourism, education, medical care, agriculture, etc, to promote prosperity and development.

Usman Younas said both China and Pakistan had rich cultural heritage and could benefit from each other greatly.

Han Bin said that it was time that China-Pakistan relationship took a turn beyond economic ties and gained from each other’s diverse cultural heritage.

The delegation also visited the Health Department and the Department of Information and Culture.

PIC new block: Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Chief Executive Officer Prof Nadeem Hayat Malik along with Medical Superintendent Dr Sohail Saqlain and PIC Chairman Friends PIC visited the newly-constructed emergency block of the institute.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, the representatives of TEPA, LDA and PHA were also present.

Prof Nadeem Hayat Malik and his team reviewed the progress of work at the block. Dr Sohail Saqlain said that the 100-bed emergency block would be the largest block in the region and would cater for the needs of acute cardiac patients round the clock. He said that in the South Asia region the developed world did not have cardiac emergencies like this.

They have referral system for cardiac patients, he added.

greeted: Punjab IT Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif has congratulated the applicants selected in Government Haj Scheme 2016 through transparent computerised balloting conducted by the PITB-devised Hajj Information Management System.

During a meeting held at Arfa Software Technology Park on Friday, the chairman said the PITB team deserved praise for completing the gigantic but sacred religious task of receiving more than 0.28 million applications and conducting balloting in a very short time.

Dr Saif said, “The government of Pakistan has allocated 50 percent quota under Private Haj Scheme. He said a similar process of online registration for this scheme too would be started within a month.

The PITB will also set up helplines for the pilgrims both in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. They may use the helplines to get information about training, flight schedules, lost luggage and residence details, he added.
