KARACHI: WAPDA swept the Shuhada-e-Army All-Pakistan Badminton Ranking Tournament 2016 which concluded at the Peshawar Services Club, in Peshawar, on Tuesday night.
WAPDA’s Mahnoor Shahzad defeated team-mate Khizra Rasheed in the summit clash of women’s singles event 21-18, 21-15.
In the men’s singles event, Irfan Saeed of WAPDA outclassed team-mate Abdur Rehman 21-13, 21-11.
In the men’s doubles climax, Awais Zahid and Attique of WAPDA overpowered Murad Ali (NBP) and Azeem Sarwar (WAPDA) 21-19, 15-21, 22-20.
In the women’s doubles final, Khizra Rasheed and Sidra Hamid of WAPDA recovered from a set down to beat WAPDA’s Saima and Farzana 20-22, 21-19, 21-18.
In the mixed doubles summit clash, Mehmoona and Irfan Saeed of WAPDA dropped a set before beating SNGPL’s Ghazala and Anjum Bashir 21-16, 17-21, 21-11.
