Sindh Police crush Quetta Gladiators Academy

KARACHI: Skipper Gohar Ali led Sindh Police to a convincing 84-run victory over Quetta Gladiators Academy in their Group A fixture of the 33rd Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Festival Twenty20 Cricket Tournament for the Omar Associates Trophy here at the KG Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Opening the innings, Gohar, declared Man of the Match, smashed two sixes in his breezy 44 off 25 balls as Sindh Police amassed a huge total of 202 for three in the allotted overs. Fazal Subhani struck two sixes and five fours in his 67 off 42 balls, while Shaharyar Ghani whacked four sixes and two fours in his unbeaten 53 off 33 balls. Left-arm spinner Zainullah (2-38) was the pick of the Quetta Gladiators bowlers.
Quetta Gladiators Academy were unable to meet the asking rate of double digits from the start of their innings. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals after the early onslaught from opener Hannan Khan which saw him hammer 43 off 29 balls with the help of two sixes and four fours.
Leg-spinner Farooq Hasan wrecked the innings with the splendid figures of four for 11, while left-arm spinners Agha Sabir (2-12) and Ali Asghar (2-19) also bowled effectively to send Quetta Gladiators Academy crashing to 118 all out in 18.5 overs.
