UET to adopt outcome-based education system

PESHAWAR: University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Iftikhar Hussain on Tuesday said the university would soon adopt the outcome-based education system under the guidance of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

He was speaking at the inaugural session of the two-day conference on Professional Trends in Industrial Systems Engineering 2018 at the Department of Industrial Engineering on Tuesday. The aim of the conference is to provide platform for bringing together researchers, scientists and engineers from academia and industry to exchange their expertise and their research findings.

He said the Industrial Engineering was an emerging field and soon the landscape of industries would change in Pakistan, adding, it was important to learn from the best practices through such conferences.

The conference will further give an opportunity to the Scientists and Engineers to identify the problems in industrial engineering.

PEC Chairman Javed Saleem Qureshi was chief guest on the occasion. He urged the universities to get apace with latest developments and show improvement by introducing reforms in their governance, adding it was only universities and researchers which can change the destiny of Pakistan.

He encouraged the young students to apply engineering knowledge through entrepreneurship. “You will not find jobs in the market, so instead of looking towards saturated job market, get prepared for applying your innovative ideas which does not need huge money but your potential to lead and drive your career,” he remarked.
