LAHORE: It is customary in Pakistan for all of us projecting ourselves ‘Mr. Clean’ and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif seems no exception, as a ‘kunda’ electricity connection was unearthed at the CM’s camp office at Minar-e-Pakistan here on Sunday by the Geo News.
Punjab CM’s camp office was found unabashedly enjoying the ‘kunda’ electricity connection, as no meter or sub-meter was found installed at the site.
Punjab government spokesman on being caught red-handed finding it difficult to defend took the stance that the electricity connection has been taken provisionally and the bill would be paid.
It may be recalled that by adopting a unique method to record protest and expressing solidarity with the people of Punjab over the chronic power cuts, Punjab CM had set up his camp office at Minare Pakistan in Iqbal Park where he and other ministers of his cabinet and the officials discharge business and hold day and night meetings reviewing the water and electricity situation.
This camp office is using PHA electric connection with no meter or sub-meter installed. At least ten water coolers, more than 30 fans besides the profuse lighting arrangements all being run on ‘kunda’ connection.
PHA officials coming to the rescue of CM camp said that the camp management would pay them their share of the bill after it was received, while Punjab government spokesman said that PHA was an organization of the Punjab government, however, if the bill received would be paid.
