ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) leader, Asfandyar Wali, has said that it had been decided to take back the presidential ordinance immediately to restore the former procedure for the election of senators from Fata.
He said that it would be better if the slot of deputy chairman was given to Balochistan.The ANP leader said that the prerogative of electing the Senate’s deputy chairman should be given to the prime minister.
Meanwhile, the political leaders have welcomed the announcement made by the prime minister regarding the election of the Senate chairman, terming it a milestone in the democratic history.
Former premier Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that the announcement was a fruit of the Charter of Democracy signed between Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif. JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that parliament should always be unanimous on any issue of national level in order to give a message of solidarity among the political forces. —Sabah News
