ISLAMABAD: PPP MNA Farahnaz Ispahani, the wife of Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani, on Monday announced legal action in the memo case sparked by Mansoor Ijaz, US businessman of Pakistani origin.
Talking to reporters on the Supreme Court premises, she said Mansoor Ijaz was working against the democratic process and asked him to come forward and disclose his factual position.
Farahnaz said she was ready to cooperate in the forensic investigation into her husband’s Blackberry phone and computer. “We are not among those people who flee in fear,” she said, adding that the party leadership would decide the memo case and that the PPP was ready to hold an inquiry to expose the facts.
SANA adds: Farahnaz strongly criticised Ijaz for frequently changing his statements on the memo issue. “Mansoor Ijaz is a foreign national and attacking Pakistan’s democracy by blaming us. We are ready for Pakistani and American courts because we have nothing to hide,” she added.
She said she was a worker of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). “When the president and prime minister will guide us to take legal option, we will do so,” she added.
She said if the top leadership of her party permitted it, she and her husband would take Ijaz to court for libel. “Let Mansoor Ijaz come forward, we are not among those who are afraid. We have gone to jail and seen exile,” she added.
Online adds: Farahnaz said Mansoor Ijaz was a conspirator and had been involved in many conspiracies against Pakistan in the past. She added that he blamed ISI for supporting terrorism and had demanded the US government to ban it.
