PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) provincial president Intikhab Chamkani on Tuesday blasted the federal government for unveiling a mini-budget and termed it an injustice.
Addressing the party workers here, he criticised the Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar for setting a new precedent for presenting two budgets within a year. The imposition of new taxes, he said, had made life miserable for the people. Intikhab Chamkani maintained that increase in the prices of daily use items would affect the common man. He said though the prices of petroleum products were low in the international market, the federal government didn’t lower the rates.
The PML-Q leader said the rulers imposed 10 percent tax on 350 items to collect money from people for own luxuries. Intikhab Chamkani said the government abolished subsidy provided to the Utility Stores to appease the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
